GMSL2 Deserializer Board
This is a GMSL2 Deserializer Board based on Maxim Integrated’s GMSL™ SerDes ICs MAX9296, and it is compatible with the Sony IMX490 CMOS image sensor and Sony IMX728 CMOS image sensor.
In Automotive Industry, Gigabit Multimedia Serial Link™ (GMSL) serializers and deserializers (SerDes) are used as high-speed communication ICs that fully support the high bandwidth, complex interconnect, and data integrity requirements needed to support evolving automotive infotainment and advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS).
From the low-power requirements of cameras to the widely varying bandwidth of sensor data aggregation, Maxim Integrated’s GMSL™ SerDes ICs address the needs of future systems. Advanced link integrity and diagnostic capabilities enable a breakthrough in link performance monitoring—a vital capability to the design of automotive safety systems. Using shielded twisted pair (STP) or coax cables of up to 15 meters, Maxim Integrated’s GMSL SerDes ICs meet the most stringent electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) requirements of the automotive industry.

How it works
This GMSL2 Deserializer Board should be connected with a GMSL2 Serializer Camera Module. For now, this board is compatible with the GMSL2 Serializer Camera Modules based on the Sony IMX490 CMOS image sensor and Sony IMX728 CMOS image sensor.
We have tested this deserializer board with a Sony IMX490 and IMX728 GMSL2 camera modules, using our OpenNCC core board as a MIPI to USB daughterboard and output Raw data/YUV/JPG.
For users who want to use this deserializer board with camera modules that are developed based on other sensors, and want to connect the deserializer board directly to other platforms directly through MIPI, users need to develop camera drivers according to their sensors and host platforms by themselves.
