As an overview, I am looking for a part with the following specs:
1. AR0234 (monochrome is preferred, but rgb is acceptable)
2. Raspberry Pi Connector
3. No ISP
This product seems to meet the specs, but I want to confirm that there is no ISP:
Now for some specifics. I plan to interface this with an FPGA, not a RPi, but I will use the RPi connector. As you can see below, the raspberry pi connector has 15 pins.
I need someone to confirm if the RPi connector's CAM_D[0:1]_{N,P} and CAM_CK_{N,P} pins are connected directly to the AR0234CS sensor module. If for example, these pins are connected to an ISP like the AP1302, that would be a big problem.
I need someone to confirm if the I2C signals need to configure anything else besides the AR0234 image sensor. If for example, these signals are connected to an MCU which loads proprietary camera configurations and there is no other way to configure the sensor, that would be a big problem. If for example, these signals are connected to a GPIO expander that configures power supplies, this is something I could deal with, but I might need some information to get this to work.
In summary, I want a camera module that will work like this:
Configure "Power Enable" pin
Configure AR0234 with I2C
From here, I should be able to capture MIPI data with the FPGA. If there are other steps, I'd need to know.
Thank you for looking into this.
David
Thank you for the great recognition and business, we are so happy and grateful to have this! Looking forward to working with your team again in the near future, and best wishes to the progress of your project!
Thank you for the extremely helpful response. The customer service and engineering expertise was great. Everything worked out without any issue, exactly as you explained. We received the Monochrome version of the AR0234CS on Tuesday afternoon, and have since integrated it with our FPGA successfully. We went ahead and purchased a couple more because of this. As a customer, thanks for the great service, and we look forward to working with you guys again in the future!
Thank David for the excellent post.
The SKU you linked in this post can meet all your spec requirements, details are below:
1. AR0234 (monochrome is preferred, but rgb is acceptable)
-->Reply: Both monochrome and RGB are available.
2. Raspberry Pi Connector
-->Reply: Support. In this SKU there is a daughterboard to connect the sensor module and Raspberry Pi.
3. No ISP
-->Reply: It has no ISP. This SKU outputs raw data.
Replies to your second batch of questions:
1.The RPi connector's CAM_D[0:1]_{N,P} and CAM_CK_{N,P} pins are connected directly to the AR0234CS sensor module.
-->Reply: Yes.
2. The I2C signals don't configure anything else besides the AR0234 image sensor
-->Reply: No, they don't.
3. Configure "Power Enable" pin
-->Reply: The "Power Enable" pin is connected directly to the AR0234CS RESET_BAR pin
Based on our engineers' evaluation, you can use this SKU to capture MIPI data with the FPGA successfully.
Below are the schematics of the daughterboard, which I think may be helpful for you.
Feel free to let us know if you have any further questions.
Thank you for your interest and your time.
Best wishes,
